Kukeng’a Mayondi
My name is Kukeng’a Mayondi.
I was born in September 2008 and I have lived almost my whole life with my Grandma in a very small village called Lukoshi.
My Parents died when I was very young – I don’t know much about them – and when I was old enough to start school grandma took me to school.
After a while she could no longer afford to support me at home or in school, until one day she heard of Streetlife’s Educational Sponsorship programme through a friend at church.
She brought me along and some weeks later I was given a place at the Grace Centre. Grandma still lives in Lukoshi and I see her regularly, helping her water the little backyard garden at her home.
At the Grace Centre I have friends to have fun with, three full meals a day, nice clothes and I even have a chance to watch TV.
I am now studying at Jack Christian Academy and when I grow up I want to be a mechanical engineer.
My favourite subjects are mathematics and science. In my free time I love making toy cars out of empty bottles.
My life is so much different now. God bless all my sponsors for the love and support, and also Mayo-Mayo for loving me.
Lots of love, Kukeng’a.
